Hello and Happy New Year, Upper Cumberland District Scouters. Here is another CREEK FLOW – notes from the Scout Roundtable that may be useful in your planning and programming. Ron Turpin gave us a informative and entertaining talk and video presentation on the the development of the properties and the advancement of high adventure programs on what we know as Latimer High Adventure Reservation, located in the Cumberland Plateau, near Spencer, TN. New opportunities for Scouting and Venturing continue to be developed. This facility, also, can accommodate civic and church groups, and company retreats. Troop 20 was a UCD participant at Winter Camp here. Scouts and leaders had a terrific experience and look forward to returning in 2014. Latimer will have a Grand Opening on Saturday, May 3, 2014. For more info, contact Ron Turpin at 615-516-9751 or go to www.latimer.org . Lorie Berta, USD Training Chair, addressed the need and purpose of leader training, and asked leaders to assess the needs/interests in their units and provide that information so specific training could be planned. We’re asking Lorie to return for the February SRT and continue the discussion and planning for district training needs.
