2/8/10 Update.  

LOCATION /DATE: Scout-O-Palooza II will be April 23 – 25 at Boxwell in Camp Stahlman. We will have access to all of the amenities of Camp Stahlman during Scout-O-Palooza. Please mark your calendar of this important change.

NEXT MEETING: Boy Scouts & Venturer Leaders will meet Thursday February 18th 6:30 at First United Pentecostal Church located at 2010 S Walnut Ave Cookeville, TN 38501 (931) 526-1575 http://www.upc1.org/ At this meeting we will get down to the nuts and bolts of planning. An agenda will be supplied.

TROOPS/CREWS: If you already know what activity your Troop would like to do; please shoot me an email describing the activity. I have asked Tom Serwan to serve as the Campfire Program Chair and he is checking his calendar for the 23-25 for availability.

CUBS: A Cub Scout Scout-O-Palooza planning session will be scheduled for Thursday March 11th 2010 at a location to be announced. An agenda will be supplied. Cubmaster’s/Outings Chairs please send me the name and description of your event as soon as possible.

Minutes from 2/4/10 Scout-O-Palooza Planning Session.  I want to thank everyone that came out last night to the Scout-O-Palooza kick-off meeting. I was very impressed with the amount of participation. This a good sign of great Spring Camporee. Three things were discussed with only two things being concrete.

Scout-O-Palooza is an opportunity for the Boy Scouts & Ventures to do service hours for the sole purpose of exposing Boy Scouting/Venturing to the Cub Scout Packs of the Upper Cumberland and equally important to the parents of those up and coming Cub Scouts.

LOCATION:  According to the Upper Cumberland District (UCD) calendar Scout-O-Palooza was scheduled for the weekend of April 9-11 2010. On May 16th 2009 the UCD camping schedule was sent to the Middle Tennessee Council (MTC) to secure this date (Please see the Scout-O-Palooza files for documentation). I was unable to contact Crystal for confirmation of the scheduled date and therefore contacted the Ranger (Mr. Rick). I was informed that the UCD was not scheduled at Camp Tubb (according to Rick’s files) for any dates in the month of April. Solution: Dester Wilson will call Crystal on Monday February 8th to discuss the situation. Preferred solution is to 1) Keep the current date and location if it is available to do so. 2) Change the date to April 23-25 which will probably require an alternate location to Boxwell if Camp Tubb is booked. A definitive answer on the date and location will be sent out to the UCD on Monday February 8th 2010.

THEME: The 2010 theme will be the same as the 2009 theme which is: Scouters of the Lost Camp The theme was decided mainly because the 2009 Spring Cub & Partner was cancelled and several Packs already had time and materials invested in the theme that would otherwise be discarded. Frank Buckler w/ Pack 295 and Johnny Moss w/ Pack 156 will serve as the Scout-O-Palooza Cub Scout Co-Chairs. The Boy Scouts and Venturer’s were enthusiastic about the theme and several ideas were thrown out such as cooking, knot tying, lashing, pioneering, Ewok Village, etc… Tentatively Keith Tidrick w/ Troop 186 and David Cross w/ Troop 72 will serve as the Scout-O-Palooza Boy Scout Co-Chairs and Sherry McGugin as Scout-O-Palooza Venturer Co-Chair.

Upper Cumberland Scouters,  It’s time to begin planning Scout-O-Palooza II. We need one representative from each TROOP and one representative from each PACK to meet me ½ hour before RoundTable FUMC 6:30pm this Thursday.

• Scout-O-Palooza II currently scheduled April 9-11 (Putnam County Spring Break) Question: Should the date be kept or moved?
