January District Committee Meeting (DCM) minutes.  The January DCM began a new year for the Upper Cumberland District. Dr. Jim Mckinney officially transferred the District Chair position over to Richard Campbell; and after a few opening comments and introductions, the meeting proceeded to a training session covering the basic structure of the Boy Scouts. Following the training, the six operating committees broke into a workshop where they all began to get acquainted with the committee they found themselves with. Attendance was taken, and a short discussion of which committee positions still remained to be filled. As this was the first meeting of the year, filling the remaining committee positions remains the priority.

Some further notes included:

Activities – A strong promotion of Day Camp needs to begin, and will be spearheaded by Anne Randolph and Sada Thomas; this year’s Camp Directors

Finance – An effort to contact units concerning popcorn sales, in an effort to determine what we can do to increase sales for next year will be ran by Carla Lamb

Activities/Camping – The Scout-A-Palooza theme will be making an appearance sometime next week by Tom Lamb

Advancement – Several merit badge counselor needs have been identified
