Cleanup of Cane Creek Park

Submitted by on October 24, 2012 – 7:34 AMNo Comment

The Scouting cleanup of Cane Creek Park will be held this Saturday, October 27th, starting at 9:00 AM!

All Upper Cumberland District scouting units are encouraged to join the effort. In addition to being a great chance to participate in a service project, the event will also provide opportunity for good publicity for your unit, our District, and Scouting as a whole. The Herald-Citizen will be at the Hilltop Shelter at 9:00 AM sharp to photograph all the participants. Please wear your Class A Uniforms and feel free to bring your unit flag or banner for the group photograph. (We can send a photo and write-up to other newspapers upon request.)

Please send one leader to register at the Hilltop Shelter before 9:00 AM to let us know approximately how many people from your unit will be participating. The registration area will have limited quantities of gloves and trash bags to provide and will also provide maps to direct units to areas which need to be cleaned. Parking is somewhat limited, so carpooling could be beneficial to your unit. In addition, your unit should carry a small first aid kit and have a current Health form on-hand for each participant just to be prepared. One or two walking staves per group could be beneficial to pull litter from hard-to-reach places.

Remember that participating in this service project could be counted toward the Journey to Excellence award for your unit and individual rank advancement. If your Unit plans to attend, please let me know via email or phone so that we can begin to allocate cleanup areas.
