BASIC ADULT LEADER OUTDOOR ORIENTATION

BALOO Training is for any Cub Scout Leader with a desire to plan and carry out an entry level outdoor experience for a Pack. When you complete this training, you will have an increased level of confidence and be able to plan an age-appropriate Pack Overnighter.
The GOAL of the Pack overnight activity is to provide a successful Pack event that is:
Age Appropriate
Based on the purposes of Scouting
Successful in whetting the appetite of the Cub Scout, his parents and the leaders who want to do more in the outdoors

- Aims and Purposes of the BSA Outdoor program
- Health 7 Safety Issues
- Program Elements
- Campfire Planning
- Planning for Success
- Outdoor Equipment
- Campfire Demonstration
And workshops in:
- Cub Scout Cooking
- First Aid and Sanitation
- Nature hikes & Games
- Stoves, lanterns, camping equipment and fire safety
*As of Jan. 1, 2003 a BALOO trained person needs to sign the Tour permit AND attend the camping event.

Directions to Lake Lodge:
From Cookeville court house: 4.3 miles on East Spring Street/Hwy. 70N, cross over I-40 on Hwy. 70N and go 7/10 of a mile from the bridge and turn left onto an unmarked road (no street sign) or turn left at the next road which is Crag Rock Road. The Lake lodge is located at the end of the road at City Lake.
From I-40: Exit at 290 which is Hwy. 70N and go east for 7/10 of a mile from the exit ramp and turn left onto an unmarked road (no street sign) or turn left at the next road which is Crag Rock Road. The Lake lodge is located at the end of the road at City Lake.
